Director Priyadarshan, who gave us hit remakes like “Virasat”, “Hera Pheri”, “Hungama” and “Hulchul”, is busy these days shooting his new film Bhool Bhulaiya, a comic thriller dealing with human psychology, in the beautiful locales of Rajasthan. Bhool Bhulaiya is the Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Malayalam blockbuster, Manichitrathazhu. The film was also remade in Telugu as Chandramukhi in 2005.
The plot of Bhool Bhulaiya revolves around a small village whose denizens are very conservative and superstitious. The film tells the story of a young couple arriving at the ancestral mansion. Ignoring the protests of their superstitious uncle, they move in to mansion, when unusual and supernatural events begin to happen. The couple’s close friend, a psychiatrist is called in to investigate. Vidya Balan will be seen playing a Kathak dancer who suffers from split personality.
According to Priyadarshan, “It is a blend of thrill and humour. With this movie, I am trying to reveal many dimensions of human psychology.” The film stars Shiney Ahuja and Vidya Balan in the lead roles. The film will also feature Akshay Kumar, Amisha Patel, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles. Pritam will compose the music for the film.
The screenplay and dialogue of the film have been penned by Neeraj Vora. S. Theeru and N. Gopalakrishnan are handling the cinematography and editing of the film, respectively. The film began shooting on February 18, 2007 in Jaipur. The shooting of the film will be wrapped up in 41 days and then the post production work will start.
Apart from making the audience spellbound by the humourous elements in his movies, Priyadarshan has also crafted the art of story telling. He always comes up with new plots and ideas. Going by the records, this will certainly be a complete entertainer.
