Only Good looks can’t be enough to dazzle on the Silver Screen for a longer duration. And if the aspiring one can’t trace his or her most distant connection to Bollywood, the chances of survival become all the more thin. Those able to survive, however, are the winners in true sense and Priyanka Chopra is one.
Born on 18th July 1982 to the family of Capt Dr Ashok Chopra and Dr Madhu Chopra, this first-born girl child of a large extended family was brought up like a flower, in the warmth and love of her grandparents, aunts & uncles. Soon, Priyanka’s twinkling eyes and fascinating smile transformed the life of every one around her.
Priyanka had a very varied upbringing . Being member of an Army family, she moved from Leh-Ladakh in the north to Kerala in the south, from Bombay in the west to Jamshedpur in the East . She imbibed the ethos of the multicultural Indian society and discipline of a jawan in her personality.
She started her Education from La Martiniere Girls College in Lucknow as a resident student, a short stay at Maria Goretti College in Bareilly prepared her for further studies in the US. Having completed class 10th from Boston, USA, she decided to become a software engineer or a criminal psychologist. However, destiny had something else in store for her. It all started with the Femina Miss India Contest, which she won with aplomb. She then represented India for the Miss World title in 2000 and came back with top honours.
Priyanka first acted in a Tamil film Thamizhan (2002) co-starring with Vijay. After that she appeared in several Hindi movies, such as Andaaz (2003), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Aitraaz (2004), Waqt: The Race Against Time (2005), Bluffmaster (2005), and recently in Krrish (2006) and Don -The Chase Begins Again (2006).
She joined a group of top stars (Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherji, Saif Ali Khan, Priety Zinta and Arjun Rampal) in the Temptation 2004 concert, which was a huge international success.
